Sun Shines for Noel O’Brien Blitz in Buffers Alley
Now in its 19th year, the Noel O’Brien U10 Hurling tournament organised by the Coiste na nÓg section of the club was once again an outstanding success with the boys having a great day’s hurling with the sun basking down on the six pitches. The mini-games got underway at 10am. and continued until 1.30 with all participants a winner, receiving medals and a goodie pack before they said their goodbyes. The participating teams got a number of games which were played in a fun and friendly environment watched by family members with many grandparents coming along to cheer on their grandsons. This tournament, which is held in memory of the late Noel O’Brien, has gone from strength to strength since its inauguration, thanks to the co-operation and support from the family and all club members. When the morning of fun was completed, Darren & Edel O’Brien presented the medals to all the boys.
A special mention to our local Hammel’s Centra, Kilmuckridge who continue to sponsor the goodie bags for the boys. With over 200 young players, the club is very appreciative of their continued generosity. Well done to this year’s organiser John Moran and his team of workers who put in many hours ensuring that the day ran smoothly.
This year the following clubs were part of the festival of hurling - Glenealy; Naomh Éanna; Askamore; Buffers Alley; Oulart-The Ballagh; Rapparees; Mount Leinster Rangers; St. Martin’s; Glynn-Barntown; Monageer-Boolavogue; Shelmaliers; Faythe Harriers and Ballynastragh Gaels.
