Well done to our Minor (U17 hurlers)   01/10/2018

Well done to our Minor (U17 hurlers) who overcame Ferns-St. Aidan's last Sunday afternoon in the Wexford People U17 Hurling Div. 2 Final.  The final score was Buffers Alley 1-14; Ferns-St. Aidan's 3-07.

Down three points at half-time, the boys knew they had to work hard in the second half aided by a slight breeze.  The game edged and flowed throughout the 36 minutes with the key moment when goalie Cian O'Connor saved a penalty with 10 minutes remaining.  The Alley responded well t this and went up the field to score a goal followed up by three points.  During the final 3-4 minutes their opponents had a number of chances to score but the Alley mounted pressure and defended every blade of grass around the goalmouth.

When the final whistle finally blew, there were scenes of jubilation from the massive support that had travelled from Kilmuckridge and Monamolin with grandparents coming from all parts of the county/country.

Congratulations to the boys and their mentors on a well-earned county title and let's hope they will have many more good days on the playing fields.
