Tony Doran's Annual GAA Quiz a great success   27/01/2017

A very successful Tony Doran GAA Quiz was held in Buffers Alley on Thursday 26th January with 26 teams competing. The questions were varied to suit all tastes but it took a lot of brain teasing to come up with the correct answers in some instances.

Congratulations to the winning team who have been regulars at our Quiz for a number of years and have been knocking on the door for first place.  The quartet from Wexford town who scooped the top prize are as follows: Joe Cummins; Trevor Doocey; Louis Rafter and Tom Lynch.  Second place went to our own clubman, Darragh Butler who brought his friends down from Dublin for the night. He was accompanied by Brendan Hobbs and Colm Breen from the Tara Rocks club and Michael Verney from Birr, who is better known for his journalistic skills with the Irish Independent.

Spot Prizes - 1st; Marie Butler, Eric Bradley; Bob Butler & Brendan Kehoe (Buffers Alley/Adamstown).  2nd: Paddy Walsh; John Fenlon; Seamus Sweeney & Michael Sweeney (Monageer-Boolavogue). 3rd: Brendan Hobbs, Michael Verney, Colm Breen & Darragh Butler (Tara Rocks & Buffers Alley). 4th: Bobby Jackman, Trevor Jackman; Gabriel Haw and Joe O’Shea.  Well done to all the raffle winners: Ben Martin; Mel Doyle; Donal Hayden; Kevin Hall, Matty Foley; Pat Burke; John Redmond and Ger Kinsella.

Thanks to everyone who supported us in so many different ways  - to Séan Doyle of Upton Court Hotel and Innovate who sponsored the prizes for the winners and runners-up. A special mention to our club members and supporters for their generous donations for the raffle and spot prizes.

Onwards and upwards to January 2018!!
